Christopher Nkunku Set for RB Leipzig Return

Christopher Nkunku is making a move back to RB Leipzig. It seems like both RB Leipzig and AC Milan have reached an agreement in principle for the 28-year-old forward to return to the Red Bull Arena.

The setup sounds like a loan first, with a fee paid upfront, and then an option for AC Milan to buy him outright later. The final details and medicals should be wrapped up in the next couple of days. It’s apparently a one-year loan for about €3 million, and if AC Milan decides to keep him, the purchase option is somewhere around €27 million to €30 million.

Even with some last-minute interest from Premier League teams like Newcastle, Nkunku apparently really wanted to go back to Saxony. That’s where he really showed he’s one of Europe’s top attackers before.

His season at AC Milan was a bit up and down. It sounds like with coach Ruben Amorim changing things up tactically, Nkunku had a tough time getting a regular starting position with the other forwards AC Milan already had.

Going back to Leipzig gives him a place he knows well, which should help him find his best form in the Bundesliga again. For Leipzig, it means they get a player they know can be a versatile attacking threat, capable of playing anywhere up front.
