Bayern Munich Eyeing Dani Olmo Ahead of January Window

Bayern Munich is reportedly showing a growing interest in signing Dani Olmo, the Spanish international currently with FC Barcelona. Word on the street is that the club’s board is actually looking at the possibility of making a move for him in the upcoming January transfer window. That said, prying the 28-year-old playmaker away from Barcelona won’t be cheap; they’re expected to ask for around £60 million (or €70m) if they’re even willing to consider letting him go.

A big reason behind Bayern’s continued pursuit seems to be Max Eberl, the board member for sport at the club. Back when he was at RB Leipzig, Eberl worked directly with Olmo and was actually the one who handled contract negotiations for him in Germany.

Eberl has been following Olmo’s career for a long time, going all the way back to his days at Dinamo Zagreb. He clearly still rates him highly, appreciating his ability to adapt tactically, his precise technique, and his skill at breaking down stubborn defenses.

Barcelona brought Olmo back in 2024, a pretty big deal at the time, after he’d left RB Leipzig. He’s shown he can be a difference-maker when he’s fit, but there might be some behind-the-scenes strategic reasons that could lead to his departure.

Right now, Barcelona sees Olmo as an important part of their team. However, the club’s financial situation and the tight salary cap rules in La Liga mean that a substantial offer could make the executives at Camp Nou think hard about the proposal.

While moving a star player in the middle of the season is never easy to pull off, Bayern’s apparent intention to test Barcelona’s financial limits means this is definitely something to keep an eye on as the January transfer window gets closer. .
