Dani Carvajal Joins Getafe On a Free Transfer

Dani Carvajal, the experienced right-back, is set to join Getafe CF after leaving Real Madrid as a free agent. This move means the Spanish international will stay in Madrid, moving from the Santiago Bernabéu to the Coliseum for the next phase of his career.

Carvajal has passed all necessary medical examinations. According to ABC, he gave his final approval to Getafe’s offer, preferring to stay in Madrid even with interest from English and Italian clubs.

The official announcement is delayed because Getafe is waiting for final approval from LaLiga’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) control committee concerning squad cost limits. Since Carvajal played at Real Madrid for over ten years with a high salary, LaLiga’s Valuation Committee is calculating his wage cost based on a standard rate against Getafe’s salary cap, not just his agreed-upon reduced salary.

Getafe president Ángel Torres and the club’s management have been working to create the necessary financial room to register the contract through LaLiga’s official system.

Carvajal’s signing is a significant achievement for manager Jose Bordalás. With six Champions League titles, numerous LaLiga championships, and extensive international experience, the 34-year-old right-back brings strong defense, leadership, and a winning mentality to Getafe.
