Jerome Boateng, who previously played for Germany and won the World Cup, has agreed to join the Turkish Süper Lig team Trabzonspor as an assistant coach.
This agreement is now complete, signaling a significant shift in Boateng’s career from being a top-tier central defender to an elite technical coach.

Boateng will be part of the technical staff under head coach Thomas Reis at the Şenol Güneş Sports Complex.
Having officially retired from playing in September 2025, Boateng had already begun his coaching journey in Austria before taking on this full-time position in the Süper Lig. He is expected to contribute his extensive knowledge of defense at an elite level to Trabzonspor’s coaching staff.
This collaboration with Thomas Reis establishes a strong German tactical approach for Trabzonspor as they pursue championship titles. Boateng comes to Turkey with an exceptionally accomplished playing career in modern European football.

He brings world-class defensive organization and valuable experience from major tournaments to the club’s coaching team.
