Fisnik Asllani’s highly anticipated €25 million move to RB Leipzig is officially OFF.
The 23-year-old Kosovan forward had traveled to Austria to undergo his medical examination with Die Roten Bullen, with terms fully agreed on a five-year contract. However, unforeseen concerns flagged during the medical checks prompted RB Leipzig to pull the plug at the eleventh hour.
Leipzig identified undisclosed physical issues during medical tests in Saalfelden, prompting executive leadership to halt the €25m release clause transaction.
SG Hoffenheim sporting director Andreas Schicker quickly defended the striker.
“The fact that this transfer has now fallen through is, from a sporting perspective, anything but bad news for us. It’s absolutely clear to us that Fisnik can perform at the highest level, both physically and athletically. We stand by our player.”
Coming off a breakout campaign featuring 11 goals and 10 assists, Asllani will return to Hoffenheim for now, though rival suitors like Borussia Dortmund could re-enter the mix before the window shuts.
