Nottingham Forest isn’t letting go of Neco Williams, even with Tottenham Hotspur poking around late in the window.
Spurs apparently had some early conversations about the 25-year-old Welsh international, but Forest has been pretty direct about it, Williams isn’t going anywhere.
In fact, they’re working on keeping him at the City Ground for longer. With the transfer window closing soon, Tottenham was looking to add some depth to their defense on the sides, and Neco Williams seemed like a good fit.
He’s got Premier League experience and can play on either the right or left flank, which is always useful. But those talks didn’t get far. Nottingham Forest made it clear that Williams is a key part of their plans, both for now and the future, and they’re not entertaining offers from North London. Since he arrived from Liverpool in the summer of 2022, Williams has become a really solid and dependable player for Forest.
He can play right-back, left-back, or even wing-back, which gives the team a lot of options depending on the formation. Instead of selling him, Forest’s management is focused on getting him to sign a new contract.
They want to acknowledge his consistent performances and make sure other clubs, both here and abroad, can’t easily snap him up later. From what I gather, Williams seems happy in Nottingham and is excited about what the club is trying to build, so a new contract really does seem like the most likely scenario.
