Napoli seems to be making some real progress with Marc Guiu. The 20-year-old Spanish striker has apparently given the green light for a move to Serie A, which is a pretty big step.
It sounds like even though clubs like Sevilla and Real Sociedad were also keen, Guiu has put Napoli at the top of his list. They’re saying personal terms are almost ironed out, so now it’s down to the clubs to sort out the rest.
The reason he’s apparently choosing Napoli over staying in Spain is to get more regular playing time in Serie A. Talks between Napoli and Chelsea are happening, with Napoli reportedly offering just over €15 million plus add-ons. Chelsea, though, is sticking to their €25 million valuation.
Since Guiu was born after January 1, 2004, he doesn’t count against Serie A’s senior squad limits, which is a smart move for Napoli. Chelsea is looking to reshuffle their attacking players this summer, and Guiu is one of the forwards they’ve put up for sale.
He’s described as a player with good physicality, who presses hard and is dangerous in the box. Having played in European competitions and the Premier League, Napoli sees him as a player with a lot of potential who can add depth and energy to their attack right away.
Both clubs are still talking to try and agree on the transfer fee before the summer window closes.
