Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of 18-year-old defensive midfielder Cristian Orozco from Colombian outfit Fortaleza CEIF.
The agreement, which was initially structured when the player was 17, has now officially gone through following his 18th birthday in July, fulfilling FIFA’s international transfer regulations for underage players.
United’s deal to acquire the teenage midfield anchor comes at a modest financial layout of around £741,000, highlighting the club’s proactive recruitment drive under INEOS to land emerging global prospects before their valuations soar.
Standing at 1.78 meters, Orozco is recognized for his tactical maturity, ball recovery skills, and physical presence in front of the defensive line. Having earned regular minutes in Colombia’s top flight with Fortaleza, he caught the eye of United’s scouting network in South America.
Orozco has officially linked up with United’s Development and U21 squad setup at Carrington to adapt to English football. The Colombian gem follows in the footsteps of young international recruits like Sekou Koné, Chido Obi-Martin, and Diego León as part of Erik ten Hag and the board’s long-term squad vision.
Orozco is expected to make his maiden appearance in Premier League 2 fixture action in the coming weeks.
