Juventus is moving closer to signing a new defender. They’ve agreed on contract terms with Jhon Lucumí, a center-back from Bologna.
Lucumí, a 28-year-old Colombian player, has made it clear all summer that he only wants to play for Juventus. Now, the clubs are talking again this week to finalize the transfer fee.
Even though English clubs like Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, and Manchester United have shown interest and made offers, Lucumí has stuck to his decision to join Juventus. He reportedly agreed to a five-year deal worth about €2.5 million net per season, plus bonuses, which would keep him at the club until 2031. He turned down better offers from England to stay in Italy.
Juventus first thought about offering players along with cash, like Fabio Miretti or Juan Cabal, but Bologna wasn’t interested in a player swap. Now, Juventus is ready to offer around €20 million in cash, plus extra payments that should be easy to meet. This should get them closer to what Bologna is asking for.
With the clubs talking again this week, everyone is hoping to finalize the deal soon and bring the left-footed defender to Juventus Stadium.
