Hull City, fresh off their promotion to the Premier League, have signaled their ambitions by submitting an offer of around £18.8 million for Union Berlin striker Ilyas Ansah. Talks between the clubs are progressing, and the 21-year-old forward himself seems keen on a move to English football.
The reported £18.8 million package from Hull City includes clauses tied to performance bonuses. Should the deal go through, it could set a new club record for Union Berlin in terms of player sales.
Ansah, who stands 6ft 4in tall, is a Germany U21 international. He brings a combination of physical strength and agility to the pitch. Since joining Union Berlin in the summer of 2025 for approximately £3.4 million, his stock has risen significantly, noted for his effective pressing and strong aerial ability.
Discussions around his contract are moving forward, with a long-term deal reportedly in the works. It’s anticipated that personal terms will be agreed upon without much difficulty, given Ansah’s eagerness to play in the Premier League. Hull City sees his potential, work rate, and his style as a target man as a good fit for the physical challenges of the Premier League. With the player in agreement, the focus of negotiations has shifted to finalizing the details of the bonus structure with Union Berlin. Once that is settled, medical assessments can be arranged.
