Serbian striker Dušan Vlahović has arrived in Istanbul. He’s there to complete his transfer to Beşiktaş, a top club in the Turkish Süper Lig.
Vlahović, who is 26, recently became a free agent after his contract with Juventus ended. He has verbally agreed to join the Black Eagles and was met by many excited fans at Atatürk Airport.
Club president Serdal Adalı and vice president Murat Kılıç flew with Vlahović to Istanbul on a private plane. They wanted to finalize the deal quickly, especially with European competition deadlines approaching.
Vlahović had a very successful period playing for manager Vincenzo Italiano at Fiorentina. He mentioned that rejoining Italiano was a major reason he chose Beşiktaş over other offers. During his time at Juventus in Turin, Vlahović scored 68 goals in 168 matches. He brings experience from playing in the Champions League and Serie A to Beşiktaş.
Vlahović said, “I am very happy. It is a wonderful feeling. We want to be champions. I can’t wait to play.”
The final paperwork and medical exams are expected to happen soon. Beşiktaş fans are looking forward to their new attacking player starting the upcoming season.
