Crystal Palace is close to finalizing another smart transfer deal. The club is in the final stages of signing Anan Khalaili from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium for about £21 million.
Khalaili, a 21-year-old Israeli international, had his medical tests over the weekend. Palace officials are now working out the final details of the agreement with Union SG. The player has agreed to personal terms and is expected to sign a five-year contract until 2031, with an option to extend for another year. Although he’s often described as a winger or wide midfielder, Khalaili has played exceptionally well as a high-energy right wing-back for Union SG. This makes him a great fit for Oliver Glasner’s fast-paced 3-4-2-1 or 3-4-3 formations.
Khalaili joined Union SG in 2024 from Maccabi Haifa and quickly helped the Belgian team win their first Pro League title and qualify for the Champions League. His quick bursts of speed, skillful dribbling, and strong work ethic on the right side made him one of the most wanted young wide players in Europe this transfer window.
Signing Khalaili is a major success for Palace’s recruitment staff. The young player had attracted significant interest from clubs all over Europe earlier this summer.
