Chelsea have officially completed the signing of Argentine midfielder Valentín “Colo” Barco from Ligue 1 outfit RC Strasbourg.
The 22-year-old international has put paper to pen on a long-term contract valid until June 2033, becoming the latest major addition to Stamford Bridge as the Blues continue their summer squad construction.
Barco makes his return to English football following a standout 2025/26 campaign in France with Strasbourg. Originally breaking through at Boca Juniors before a brief tenure at Brighton and a loan spell with Sevilla, the versatile Argentine truly found his rhythm in Ligue 1.
Last season, Barco registered 12 goal contributions (3 goals, 9 assists) in 43 appearances across all competitions, helping Strasbourg secure European qualification and reach the UEFA Conference League final.
Known for his technical flair, tenacity, elite delivery from set-pieces and open play and positional versatility, Barco offers flexible options across the flank and central areas, capable of playing as a marauding wing-back, inverted full-back, or central midfielder.
Barco is scheduled to link up with his new Chelsea teammates later in pre-season as preparations intensify for the upcoming campaign.
