Arsenal Closing In on Deal to Sign Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa

Arsenal are closing in on an agreement with Aston Villa for defender Ezri Konsa.

According to reports from The Athletic’s David Ornstein, negotiations between the two Premier League clubs have accelerated significantly following direct discussions at the ownership level, which helped bridge the valuation gap between both sides.

The 28-year-old England international has been high on Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta’s shortlist all summer. After Villa previously held out for a higher fee, recent boardroom discussions have brought both parties closer to a structured agreement, likely in the region of £50 million plus add-ons.

Arsenal have prioritized adding defensive depth due to ongoing injury concerns surrounding William Saliba and Jurriën Timber. Konsa’s ability to slot in seamlessly at both center-back and right-back makes him an ideal profile for Arteta’s flexible defensive setup.

With personal terms understood to be mutually agreed, final paperwork and medical arrangements are expected to be finalized as the transfer window approaches its conclusion.
