Fulham’s really trying to shore up their defense before the transfer window closes. They’ve started talking to FC Augsburg about signing their center-back, Chrislain Matsima.
Sky Germany is reporting that Fulham is seriously interested in the 24-year-old French defender. It sounds like they’re in a bit of a rush to get some key players in.
Matsima was part of the French Olympic team that won silver, and he’s become a pretty solid player for Augsburg in Germany. He moved there permanently from AS Monaco in 2025, and apparently, his strong defensive play has caught the eye of some Premier League clubs.
Crystal Palace was actually talking to Augsburg about him earlier in the window. They were looking at a move worth around €30 million, but it fell apart because Augsburg’s price and extra conditions were more than Palace wanted to pay.
So now, Fulham is stepping in to try and make it happen at the last minute.
Augsburg isn’t really in a hurry to sell, especially since Matsima has a contract until 2030. This means Fulham will probably need to come up with a pretty good offer to get a deal done this late. On top of Matsima, Fulham has also been mentioned as being interested in Hugo Larsson, a midfielder from Eintracht Frankfurt, as part of a plan to target two players from the Bundesliga late in the window.
Now that talks have begun, things will likely move fast as the deadline gets closer. If the clubs can agree on a fee, personal terms shouldn’t be a problem.
