Manchester United just announced they’ve brought in Carlos Baleba, a midfielder from Cameroon, from Brighton & Hove Albion. He’s 22 and signed a long contract, a full five years with an extra year option. So he’s locked in at Old Trafford until at least 2031.

Speaking upon his official unveiling at Carrington, Baleba made no secret of his excitement at joining Manchester United:

Baleba becomes United’s third major midfield arrival of the summer transfer window, following earlier deals for Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos.
Baleba specifically cited the influence of manager Michael Carrick—one of the Premier League’s iconic modern central midfielders—as a major factor in his decision to move.
