Aston Villa Submit £18m Bid for Southampton’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis

Aston Villa made a move for Southampton centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis, putting in an initial offer. The bid was for £18 million, with some potential add-ons tied to his performance. Southampton turned it down, though. It seems the offer just didn’t meet what they think he’s worth.

Villa’s manager, Unai Emery, is looking to bring in more defenders, and Harwood-Bellis is someone they’re keeping an eye on, potentially as someone to step in if Ezri Konsa moves on.

Harwood-Bellis came up through Manchester City’s youth system. He’s built a good name for himself, known for being calm with the ball and a strong leader. This reputation was built during his loan spells and his time at Southampton. He’s also represented England at various youth levels and has a senior cap, which aligns with Villa’s strategy of signing young, promising British players.

Southampton, on their end, see him as a really important player for them, even a future captain. Because of that, they’re not in a hurry to sell him for anything less than what they believe he’s worth. They’re open to selling if their price is met, but £18 million, even with the extras, isn’t enough to get them seriously talking right now.
