Brighton & Hove Albion has signed Canadian international striker Promise “Tobi” David from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium. The 25-year-old forward will play for Brighton on a season-long loan. The deal includes an option to buy him permanently if certain conditions are met during the season.
David is 6ft 5in tall and will add aerial strength and a target-man option to Brighton’s attack. He joins on an initial one-year loan with a conditional purchase obligation.
Last season, David scored 11 goals and provided 4 assists in 16 starts for Union SG. He also scored twice in the Champions League. He played in all five of Canada’s matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, reaching the Round of 16, and scored against Switzerland.
Brighton Sporting Director Mike Cave said that the club has been interested in David for a while. He described David as a pure striker with great physical abilities and a history of scoring goals. Cave added that David’s experience with his national team and in European competitions should be helpful this season. He believes that at 25, David is in his best playing years and is looking forward to seeing him grow at Brighton.
