Marc Casadó, who came through Barcelona’s academy, is likely the next player to leave the club. After manager Hansi Flick reshuffled the squad and with strong competition in midfield from players like Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, and Marc Bernal, Casadó and the club’s sports department have agreed that a transfer would be the best way for him to get consistent playing time.
Even though there’s been a lot of talk about Saudi Arabian clubs Al Hilal and Al Ahli being interested in the 22-year-old defensive midfielder, no actual talks are happening right now. Barcelona had hoped a Saudi transfer might bring in around €30 million to €40 million, which would have helped their financial situation. However, Casadó has told people close to him that he wants to stay in one of Europe’s top five leagues. He’s more focused on proving himself at a high level than taking a big money move to the Middle East right now.
Super-agent Jorge Mendes is now managing Casadó’s move and is using his wide connections in European football to find his next club. AS Monaco had an initial agreement earlier this summer and are still a strong possibility, offering him guaranteed playing time. Mendes also suggested Casadó to AC Milan as they are looking to change their central midfield. Manchester United have been watching him closely, impressed by his tactical awareness and ability to handle pressure, seeing him as a potential rotational player.
