AS Roma is getting close to signing Rodrigo Mora, a promising young player from FC Porto. The Italian club and Porto have been talking more intensely in the last few hours. They are trying to agree on the final details for the 19-year-old attacking midfielder.
Roma feels positive about getting the deal done, even though they are being careful until everything is official. The clubs are discussing a total fee of around 50 million euros.
The current plan being considered is a loan with a significant upfront payment, likely between 8 and 10 million euros. This would also include an option or requirement for Roma to buy him later, depending on certain conditions being met.
Both clubs are getting their paperwork ready to exchange in the next one to two days. This is waiting for final approval from their respective boards. Mora himself wants to join Roma and work with manager Gian Piero Gasperini.
His personal contract terms should not be a problem once the clubs sort out their agreement. Mora had a very good season at Porto, showing he is one of the best young attacking midfielders in Europe for his age group.
Even though other clubs like AC Milan and Galatasaray showed some interest recently, Roma has kept pushing to complete the transfer. If the paperwork goes well in the next couple of days, Mora might be on his way to Rome for a medical before the week ends.
