Aston Villa have started talks to sign Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. This comes after his potential move to Paris Saint-Germain fell apart unexpectedly at the last minute.
Villa, managed by Unai Emery, have reached out to Parma and Suzuki’s representatives. They’re ready to match the offer of over €35 million that PSG had previously agreed on.
PSG seemed close to signing Suzuki for about €35 million, including extra payments, and he was even scheduled for medical tests in Paris. But the deal collapsed suddenly because of last-minute disagreements over the contract.
Suzuki’s agents added new demands for agent commissions that weren’t in the original deal. PSG got angry about this change in terms and decided to walk away from the negotiations on principle, cancelling Suzuki’s flight to Paris.
Aston Villa view Suzuki as a top priority. There’s a lot of transfer interest in their current goalkeeper, Emiliano Martínez. Villa didn’t want to let Martínez go unless they had already lined up a top-tier replacement. Signing Suzuki now makes it possible for Juventus to restart talks for Martínez.
Suzuki is considered one of Europe’s most desirable young goalkeepers because of his physical build, calm play with the ball, and strong performances in Serie A and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Aston Villa, Parma, and Suzuki’s team are currently in negotiations. Villa hopes to quickly agree on personal terms and finalize the deal.
