Victor Osimhen, a star player from Nigeria, really wants to join Arsenal. The club wants a top striker to help them compete for the title, and The Telegraph reports that Arsenal has started talking about a possible deal. However, getting one of the best strikers in football to Arsenal won’t be cheap. Osimhen’s current salary is around £308,000 a week.
After becoming a dominant player at Galatasaray, Osimhen is ready for a new challenge. The 27-year-old forward has been rumored to move to the Premier League before, but he prefers Arsenal because of how well they’re playing under Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal initially looked at other players like Julian Alvarez, but since Atletico Madrid wouldn’t negotiate, they shifted their focus to Osimhen.
Osimhen’s contract pays him about £308,000 weekly, which is around €21 million per year. To afford this, Arsenal would have to make him one of their highest-paid players, similar to Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard. Galatasaray values Osimhen between £65 million and £90 million or more. They’ve also shown they’re not easily swayed, reportedly turning down offers from Saudi Arabia.
Talks between Arsenal and Galatasaray have also included the possibility of player swaps, with Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri mentioned as potential players in an exchange.
