Paul Pogba’s time in Monaco seems to be ending soon. Reports from Nice-Matin and Le Parisien say that AS Monaco has told Pogba they want to end his contract by mutual agreement before the transfer window closes on September 1. This comes only a year after the 2018 World Cup winner signed a two-year deal with the club after returning from a doping suspension.
Monaco had apparently told Pogba’s representatives weeks ago that they were considering this, but a recent injury has made the club more firm in their decision. Pogba injured his left thigh during a practice match at Monaco’s pre-season training camp in England. The 33-year-old midfielder only played in 6 competitive games for a total of 115 minutes during the 2025-2026 season because of ongoing knee and muscle problems. Before the recent thigh injury, Pogba had only managed 45 minutes of play in a pre-season friendly against Saint-Priest in July, and then had to sit out due to right knee issues.
Monaco’s CEO, Thiago Scuro, admitted earlier this summer that the club’s big move to sign Pogba hadn’t worked out as well as they had hoped.
