Argentine teenage sensation Franco Mastantuono is set to spend the upcoming 2026–27 season in Serie A after Real Madrid reached a full agreement with Fiorentina over a season-long loan.
Despite widespread interest from across Europe and rumored pushes for a return to River Plate, Los Blancos prioritized keeping the 18-year-old playmaker in top-tier European competition to guarantee regular starting minutes.
Crucially, no option to buy has been included in the agreement, confirming Real Madrid’s absolute commitment to his long-term future at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Real Madrid invested heavily to secure Mastantuono from River Plate in summer 2025 by triggering his €45 million buyout clause. Under the loan arrangement with Fiorentina, Los Blancos will cover a substantial percentage of the player’s wages to ensure smooth financial terms for La Viola.
During his debut season in Spain, Mastantuono flashed world-class technical ability, press resistance, and creative vision. However, given the fierce competition for central and wide attacking roles in Xabi Alonso’s squad, regular starts proved hard to secure.
Formal medical checks are done with Mastantuono arriving in Florence on Wednesday.
