Coventry City have pulled off one of the most eye-catching moves of the summer transfer window.
Danish Superliga standout Caleb Yirenkyi has officially passed his medical in England, clearing the final hurdle to complete his blockbuster transfer from FC Nordsjælland to the West Midlands club.
This £25.6 million package shatters Coventry City’s transfer record for the fourth time this window, while simultaneously setting a new all-time record high for an outgoing sale in Scandinavian football history.
Coventry manager Frank Lampard personally drove this transfer forward, leaning on his close connection with former Chelsea teammate Michael Essien who currently serves on FC Nordsjælland’s coaching staff to get the inside track on Yirenkyi’s tactical discipline and work ethic.
Lampard pitched Yirenkyi a central role in Coventry’s midfield engine room, beating out competition from several established European sides.
Yirenkyi’s stock skyrocketed during Ghana’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Showing composure beyond his years, he capped off a series of dominant midfield displays by scoring the winning goal against Panama in the group stage.
