A New Era Begins: Eva Olid is Appointed Manchester United Women Head Coach

Manchester United Women have officially appointed Eva Olid as head coach on a contract through June 2028 (with an option for a further year), and if you’ve been following her trajectory, you know this is a massive, incredibly exciting statement of intent.

Olid is one of the most progressive and innovative managerial minds in the game right now. She arrives in Manchester straight off the back of guiding Heart of Midlothian Women through the most successful period in their history. Under her leadership, Hearts didn’t just compete—they completely transformed. She dragged the club up from the second tier all the way to a historic, fairytale Premier League title win this past May.

Her tactical sharpness and leadership earned her Best Manager of the Season,PFA Scotland SWPL Manager of the Year.

At just 40 years old, she brings a fresh, modern tactical perspective combined with a proven track record of building winning cultures from the ground up.

Olid’s history shows she knows how to balance high-level tactical demands with developing young talent. Blending homegrown prospects with seasoned senior internationals is a tricky needle to thread, but it’s precisely the kind of challenge Olid has excelled at throughout her career.
