Ipswich Town have completed another significant piece of summer transfer business, officially sealing the arrival of Portuguese defensive midfielder Florentino Luís from Burnley.
The 26-year-old has completed his medical and put pen to paper on a long-term five-year deal that ties him to Portman Road until the summer of 2031
Ipswich will pay an initial £16 million, with an additional £3 million structured in potential performance-related add-ons with the player signing a five-year contract running through to June 203.
Florentino Luís featured in 31 top-flight appearances during the 2025/26 campaign and he arrives in Suffolk following a heavy-workrate season in the top flight. Known for his positioning, elite ball-recovery rate, and composure under pressure.
peaking on his arrival at the club, Florentino highlighted Ipswich’s long-term project:
“It feels brilliant to be a part of this club. How the club is thinking to the long-term is one of the main reasons I came here. I can bring experience and balance to the team, between defence and attack.”
Manager Gary O’Neil praised the addition, noting that Florentino adds vital quality both on and off the ball to bolster the squad’s central options ahead of the upcoming campaign.
