Manchester United have officially secured a landmark commercial agreement, announcing betting titan BetWay as the club’s new training apparel sponsor in a multi-year deal worth a staggering £20 million per season.
The agreement is widely regarded as the most lucrative standalone training kit and sleeve deal in world football, marking a massive commercial statement for the club ahead of the new campaign.
The Betway logo will feature prominently across training wear for both the men’s and women’s first teams. In addition to that, BetWay’s branding will feature across Old Trafford and the Progress with Unity Stadium on matchdays. BetWay becomes a designated ‘Principal Partner’ as well as the club’s official global betting partner.
The partnership comes at a critical time in top-flight football finance. With Premier League regulations strictly banning gambling companies from appearing as front-of-shirt matchday sponsors, betting brands have shifted focus toward alternative high-visibility inventory like training kit wear and sleeve spots.
Having gone without a training kit partner following the conclusion of their deal with Tezos, United exercised patience to maximize commercial value upon returning to UEFA Champions League football.
Speaking on the announcement, Manchester United’s Chief Business Officer Marc Armstrong noted:
“The scale of our exciting new partnership reflects our growth strategy, the enduring global strength and appeal of Manchester United, and our ability to attract leading brands that want to engage with our vast worldwide fanbase.”
While matchday shirts continue to feature front-of-shirt partner Snapdragon (£60m/year) and kit supplier Adidas (£90m/year), adding a £20m annual training kit partnership provides significant off-pitch financial backing to support squad investment.
