In a monumental transfer breakthrough first reported by L’Équipe’s Hugo Guillemet, Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle with Newcastle United on a €90 million fee to bring Brazilian star Bruno Guimarães to the Emirates Stadium.
While add-ons, structure bonuses, and agent commissions are still being finalized, the major hurdle—club-to-club agreement on the base transfer fee—is officially cleared. Barring any late drama over the next few days, Guimarães will fulfill his wish to become a Gunner
Agreement in principle reached between clubs, working through final bonus structures & agent fees as Bruno has agreed a 5 year contract. In addition to that Olympique Lyonnais stand to pocket a multi-million euro sell-on payout from the deal.
With the big €90m figure locked in between Edu/Arteta’s team and Newcastle’s board, expect high-level talks to wrap up over the coming days. Once the medical is booked and paperwork signed, Guimarães will join up with the rest of his new teammates for pre-season.
