Fulham Closing In on Real Madrid’s César Palacios

Fulham’s summer transfer window is heating up, and Craven Cottage looks set to welcome one of Real Madrid’s brightest young midfield talents.

The Whites are in advanced talks to secure the signing of 21-year-old Spanish midfielder César Palacios. Negotiations have reached the final stages, with both clubs working through the fine details of a structured transfer formula.

This move carries a distinct tactical blueprint. Newly appointed Fulham head coach Álvaro Arbeloa knows Palacios inside and out from their shared time at La Fábrica and Real Madrid Castilla. It was Arbeloa who handed Palacios his senior Real Madrid debut, placing immense trust in the young Spaniard’s press resistance, vision, and goalscoring instinct from deep.

With Fulham active in the market to bolster their midfield dynamics, Arbeloa’s request for Palacios has been a driving force in bringing negotiating parties to the table.

While Los Blancos are prepared to sanction the departure so Palacios can secure regular first-team football in the Premier League, they have no intention of severing ties completely.

Real Madrid are fiercely protective of their top academy graduates—a strategy seen with previous deals involving Dani Carvajal, Fran García, and Nico Paz. Discussions currently center on the exact mechanism to retain long-term control:

A set clause allowing Real Madrid to re-sign Palacios within a specified window and a 50% sell-on clause for any future sales.

With talks moving rapidly toward completion, Fulham fans may not have to wait long before seeing Palacios don the famous black-and-white shirt at the Cottage
