Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of highly-rated Wales Under-21 international goalkeeper Kit Margetson. The young shot-stopper moves to Old Trafford following the expiration of his contract with Championship side Swansea City.
Standing at an imposing 6ft 4in, Margetson has long been regarded as one of the most promising young goalkeeping prospects in Welsh football. Having joined the Swansea City academy at Under-15 level, he steadily rose through the youth ranks and earned international recognition with Wales up to the Under-21 level.
Goalkeeping runs deep in the Margetson household. Kit is the son of Martyn Margetson, the former head of goalkeeping for Wales, England, and Swansea City. After gaining crucial first-team exposure during a standout loan spell in senior football with Connah’s Quay Nomads—where he kept 10 clean sheets and helped lead the side to European qualification—Margetson caught the eye of Manchester United’s recruitment staff.
With his towering frame, instinctive shot-stopping, and calm composure on the ball, Margetson represents a key addition to United’s long-term goalkeeping strategy. He will initially link up with the club’s development groups to continue his progression alongside top-tier coaches in Carrington.
