David Alaba Completes Shock Move to Udinese

David Alaba, a well-known figure from his time at Real Madrid and FC Bayern Munich, has officially signed with Serie A club Udinese. The 34-year-old Austrian defender is joining Udinese as a free agent after his contract with Real Madrid concluded. He has agreed to a one-year deal that will keep him with the club until June 2027.

Udinese had some fun teasing the news on social media before the official announcement, posting a picture of a white folding chair. This was a direct reference to Alaba’s famous celebration during Real Madrid’s exciting Champions League run in 2022. Now, that celebration will be seen in Serie A, as Udinese has made a significant signing for the club in recent times.

Alaba’s career accomplishments are quite extensive in modern European football. He’s won the UEFA Champions League three times, playing for both FC Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. He’s also a 10-time Bundesliga champion, a 2-time La Liga champion, and has earned over 100 caps for Austria.

Despite dealing with injuries towards the end of his time in Madrid, Alaba brings a wealth of experience from playing at the highest level, along with composure and tactical versatility to Kosta Runjaic’s team.

After completing his medical tests in Rome and finalizing the contract details, Alaba is ready to wear the black-and-white jersey for his debut season in Italian football.
