Yves Bissouma Set to Join Ajax on Free Transfer

Ajax and Yves Bissouma have come to terms on a deal. The midfielder, who is 30 years old and plays for Mali internationally, is currently in Amsterdam for his medical. He’s expected to sign a contract that runs until June 2027, with a potential extension for another year.

Bissouma became a free agent after his four years with Tottenham Hotspur concluded when his contract expired at the end of the 2025-26 season. He originally joined Spurs from Brighton for £30 million back in 2022. During his time in North London, he made 111 appearances for the club. However, injuries and some off-field issues seemed to affect his performance, especially in his last season.

Jordi Cruyff, Ajax’s technical director, moved quickly to bring Bissouma in without a transfer fee. Bissouma brings defensive solidity, strong ball-carrying skills, and a lot of Premier League experience to Ajax’s midfield. He’ll be joining a midfield that’s already seen some changes this summer with new arrivals like Sofyan Amrabat and Julian Brandt.

Once the medical checks are completed without any hitches, Ajax will wrap up the paperwork and officially announce Bissouma as their new player.
